Sea loads on Offshore structures (EMship)

Students acquire in-depth knowledge of linear and nonlinear mathematical models as well as model-experimental methods for predicting loads and movements of floating, submerged or founded marine structures due to currents, waves and wind.

They are qualified to select the most suitable methods according to the concrete technical task and to apply them for hydrodynamic investigations on marine structures.

The students are able to evaluate and synthesize the results of theoretical and experimental analyses in a qualified manner.

At a look

  • Introduction of offshore structures and their tasks
  • Review of selected basics
  • Basic assumptions of the marine environment (surface waves, statistical description of the sea state etc.)
  • Singularity methods for the calculation of linear flow-induced movements and loads
  • Linear wave-induced loads and movements of floating structures
  • Introduction to nonlinear problems
  • Flow and wind loads
  • Wave loads on hydrodynamically transparent structures
